Farmers Support Free Trade? Campaign Launch

Parliament House, Canberra
AUSTRALIA

[16th March, 2005]

The Chairman of the Cairns Group, Australian Minister for Trade, the Hon. Mark Vaile MP, and Cairns Group Farm Leader Chairman and National Farmers' Federation President, Mr Peter Corish, launched the Cairns Group Farm Leaders' new campaign demanding international agricultural trade reform.

The event focused on the launch of the revitalised Cairns Group Farm Leaders website and a colourful display of campaign merchandise including caps and badges, brochures and posters.

Representatives of the Cairns Group diplomatic community were among the many guests at the function in Parliament House, Canberra.

Australian and international media representatives were out in force to learn why the farmers of the world are insisting that the World Trade Organisation (WTO) stand up and deliver NOW.
